RE: Your longest honest shot
I've taken 1 at 44.5 yards on the rangefinder and one at 37 yards. The rest have been under 30.
My favorite shot is 15 yards broadside. That's just fay enough away from the tree to feel like you're not shooting straight down.

My average is 12 yards.
My longest is 32 yards.
And if he steps out at 50 and everything is right he is a dead deer.
Just don't let a doe stand at 22 because I'll choke.

Inside 30 yards. I hunt some fairly tight pinch points so there are not many longer shots. But I wouldn't take a shot over 35 yards. That's as far as I trust my shot.

Made a 50 yard kill shot on a Tom turkey this spring...hit it perfect and he dropped in his tracks. Probly wont take the shot again...but it did work.
But 40 is my absolute max on deer...

No wind, calm broadside or quartering awaydeer feeding then I am shooting out to 50 yards provided I know the exact yardage. Adjust the HHA sight to the correct yardage and let her fly.
But my actual longest to datehas been 35 yards and closest has been 10 feet from the base of my tree.

I would not shoot much over 50 yards anymore, but do have several kills that were made between 50 and 84 yards.
There are a lot of factors that come into play when deciding when is the best time to shoot.
Only one of them is yardage!
Many will get down on you for killing an animal at 50 yards when if the Truth was known they have wounded game at 20 yards or less
