I dont think My rages like me....

I've now come to the total of roughly $45 for lost arrows tipped with Rages 2 blades. I shot at a possum tonight and wasnt even close, I never have any trouble with my strikers but seems to be with the rages the actual bladed rages fly differently than the practice tip.

Just felt like Venting, now I'm out 2 maxima hunters to boot.

Ryan.

shoot the rage heads at a broadhead target before you hunt with them, mine shoot the same and I'm sure you'll hear the same from 90% of the guys on here

Mine shoot the same. And a question, why were you using a rage broadhead to shoot at a OPPOSUM?

Mine shoot the same as field points.
Try shooting at your practice target some more and leave the opossums alone.

I hope that opossum is in season otherwise it might cost you more than $45 in arrows and tips.

RE: I dont think My rages like me....

Stay away from those possums, no need for that right now, it's deer season.

Having said that, I've had the same problem. My broadheads are flying a little different than the practice tips, and making a hissing sound as they're in flight...on occation. I haven't pinpointed the problem yet, but I did hear that some of the faster bows will make the two blade rage blades come apart from the o-ring during flight. Again, I just heard that and don't know how much truth there is to that assumption. If I can't iron it out in the next few days, it's right back to the thunderheads.

x2.. Theyre $13 dollar heads and youre gonna waste one on a opossum??

I shoot A/C/C arrows with a Slick Trick, wrapped, and blazers..total cost is $20 a darn arrow..too costly for possums..but I have been know to waste one or two on a stupid woodchuck so I can't preach to you.
Speakin of possums..I had a DNR guy tell me once that a possum can't give you rabies as rabies affects the brain and a possums is too small to get rabies...don't know..anybody know? I know they are hard to kill. As a kid you could beat one in the head on your trapline, come back to get it and it would be gone. They have extremely strong jaws though and their bite is bad if you would get bit.

Opposums are actually immune to rabies. I have read this somewhere as well, soto my understanding they cannot be infected with rabies.

I shoot the Rage 2 through an 82nd and have no issues with flight or noise.

Why shoot a possum with maximas and rages in the first place?[&:]

The real heads fly identical to practice heads from my bow....i'd put good money on the scenario that you simply pulled on the shot.

probably a classic case of possum fever.[8D]

what the heck does that have to do w/ rage broadheads

monster;

Get you some cheap-o arrows and some bludgeon points if you want to critter shoot. I always carry one or two in my quiver... because to me shooting critters is as much fun as shooting deer. To each his own... but you won't ever catch me shooting something serious at anything other than a fox, bobcat, or deer.

Thats why I spoke of opossums and rabies for the guy wondering.

I think the question was about the accuracy compared to the practice tip, not if everyone is so put off by someone shooting an opposum with a rage. Shoot away buddy, opposums are nasty, and its not sacreligious to shoot a rage at it either.

u need to invest in a judo tip and put that thing on your crappiest arrow if you wanna shoot at little critters. much cheaper to lose than a rage.

Holy crap if you must shoot at a possum (??) at least don't be using those expensive broadheads/arrows.

Did you bend at the waist when you shot?

Either that or all you could think about was that delicious possum stew in the near future :-)

No, I got them for free from a friend who was just going crazy over them so he bought me a pack. To me I could care less my Strikers fly like darts so I use them for Deer and they (my rages) wont fit in my quiver without opening the blades anyhow so I have to have one nocked if im going to take it hunting with me, Dont know what the deal is cause the opossum diddnt even flinch. He diddnt even miss a stride....

Ryan.

i'd shoot one. and every coon i and yote. the coons and opossums are egg eaters. i kill to many turkeys to not keep the predators in check as well.
