DBL BDD in TN
 

Awesome, awesome hunt today. After missing two with the longbow this morning, I figured I'd take my Drenalin and get even. I let my daughter sit on my ladder stand 40 yards from my climber to watch, and she got a show. At 5:30 pm, I had 9 deer staged just out of my shooting lane. At 6:00 they started crossing my lane. At 6:05, the doe I'd targeted as the one I wanted crossed at 25 yards. I drew, stopped her and drilled her with a double lung shot. I watched her run 50 yards and pile up. Fifteen minutes into my wait,I spot three more coming towards me, and one of them is a BIG momma doe. As they milled around, working their way towards the same spot, I debated on whether I wanted to have to field dress and take care of two tonight. If she didn't speed up, I wasn't going to bother since it was getting late. Then she stopped in a little opening that I'd alread ranged at 25 yards. I thought, okay, it's Saturday night and I drew and drilled her with a double lung shot also. She didn't make it past 60 yards. I didn't see her fall, but I knew from the hit she was done. Since this was the stand I can walk to from the house in 5 minutes, I had the entire family helping me with the blood trail on the second one. What an awesome day![8D]

Of course I am, but I'm glad I didn't take it out again this evening. Every deer that crossed my lane did so at 20-25 yards, and at this point, my max range with the longbowis 15 yards. I WILL get a deer with the longbow this year, though.

Let's see, missed two in the AM and shoots two in the PM with a daughter fidgeting on a ladder stand 40 yards away. I'd call that a target rich environment. How about the next time you let me have the daughters seat. LOL Congrats on the double.

Yes, this is the first time I've ever doubled up. It's an awesome feeling - right up until you realize what a butchering job you have ahead of you.:D Mine starts in a few minutes. I used a tarp in the back of my truck to make a make-shift cooler and put them on 15 bags of ice for the night and covered them with horse blankets. Worked just as good as hanging them in a cooler.;)

Here in Tipton county, I can take four does and three bucks. In Hardeman county where I have my other TN lease, I can kill three does a day.It's literally overrun with deer. I don't know if I'd care to triple, though.:D

Actually, my daughter is probably better at sitting still than I am.:D She wanted to go, and the wind was perfect for her to be there. Had the deer made it past me, they would have winded her and doubled back my way with their attention focused on her.[8D]

And yes, I know my photographer sucks.:D:D

I'm with you on the longbow as well. I'm good out to 15 yards, and I know if I bring it to the woods with me my dream-buck will show out at 25.
