First Compound?

I know these questions have probably been asked before, but here goes. It has been many years since I've shot any bow and I tried a friends Hoyt bow (70#, 30" draw. Too long for me). Much to my dismay, the 70# proved too much for me to draw quickly and easily, if at all. I am about a 28" draw, should I buy a 50-60# bow (run it at max when I am used to it) or suffer for awhile with a 60-70#? What weight do you hunt with? Also, Parker vs. Diamond vs. Bear? I would like to be in the $500 to $600 range for a complete bow.

Thanks for your help, sorry to annoy with these noob questions.

I would go the other way ...50-60 pound bows of today will do the killing that 80# bows would do 15 years ago ....

I would go 60-70, just for resale, open yourself up to more bows. Go shoot all of the bows possible in your price range and find the best one for you.

I completely agree. I would highly recommend the Martin Bengal. Great price and you can get it adjustable from 55-70#. Good luck with your decision.
