RE: Missouri Success thread 08-09 kills post them
Well, we had a high of 49 today and it melted most of the snow. I decided to leave the croplands and get way back into a cow pasture/timber area about 3/4 of a mile from the nearest house. I rattled this guy in on only my 2nd attempt of the set. He came in from my left and there was no way for him to wind me with my setup unless he wanted to jump a fence and approach in wide open country. He got within 10 yds of my tree and made the fatal mistake of stepping into a small clearing that gave me the opportunity I was looking for. I had been on full draw for easily 2-3 minutes as I expected him to walk into a different shooting lane. I squeezed my arrow through a narrow opening of limbs(hunting in thick hedgeapple tree country) and I smoked him. He ran approx 50 yds and I heard him fall. Time was approx 4:30. What a year!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thanked God for another awesome archery harvest, climbed down, set up my portable tripod, and started snapping pics. 11 scoreable points and my 2nd 11 pointer of the year. One happy MO bowhunter!!!!

Got my 1st doe of the season. 1st one I have wanted to shoot, as I have been trying to get another buck with my 2nd MO buck tag, and I like having the does around my stand for decoys. Decided to play with the camera tonight..in no hurry so I took alot of pics.Gotta love this state of MO..lots of deer on the farm I hunt..and doe tags over the counter for a nonresident for a whopping $7.00. I went to church 2day and decided I was going to get a doe for the HUSH program(hunters feeding the hungry food pantry) as a Christmas present to the needy, and I did. She came up to my left and I shot her at 15 yds from 30 ft up and I smoked her through the heart. Shot her with15 minutes of legal shooting light left. She did a mule kick when I shot her and after two full seasons of never ruining an A/C/C arrow..she broke it as she kicked or stepped on it. I watched her run right straight away from my stand on a dead run, with 3 other does, and I watched her just pileup 60 yds away ina picked cornfield; one little kick, and done. Quite a bloodtrail..pretty impressed with the Slick Tricks this year. A MO buck tag to go and hopefully a yote yet with the bow. The 07 Guardian is smokin this year, Bowtech Rocks!!!. An elk in NM, a 9 point buck in MO, an 11 point buck in MN, and now this mature doe. All complete passthrus with my 1st season of stepping down to a 60# bow. Love the 60#er and lovin life. Thanks God and God Bless you all!!

2 Reasons this Buck died.
1. It's not catch & release
2. I had less than 10 seconds to shoot or let him walk.
I was hunting in a honeysuckle thicket and things just happened too fast. I've also knocked a couple of does down this year, and passed a dozen bucks the caliber of this one.
Yep there are bigger ones out there, but Murphy has stayed close
Heading out west to Bowhunt Mulies, and Merriamsagain in a week or so.
