NEVER WILL A MOM LEAVE HER FAWN DUE TO ODOR.
Like I said if the mom got eaten by wolves and the fawn escaped for some reason, another doe will pick up the fawn.

True true! It's funny how some old wive's tales live on. That must have been a cool experience, well maybe not for the fawn, but it doesn't look too shook up. How did it take being handled? Did it calm down eventually?

RE: future shooter
Dr. Leonard Lee Rue III, the man who has spent more time in his life observing and researching whitetails than pretty much anyone on earth right now says in his books, often in bold, that if you see a fawn NEVER PICK IT UP. Of course, if it is in danger where death is imminent within only a matter of seconds, the best thing to do may be to sit it out of danger, however, touching it for as little time as possible is only a second option.
I looked at your website and then did some research on the program director, unfortunately, I couldn't find much of what she done with respects to scientific writings or studies showing what she says to be true at all. Don't follow sources like that too blindly, they often can lead you astray.
