How do you deal with gnats
 

This year the gnats are about to drive me nuts. I use a therma cell, which will keep the mosquitos away, and some of the large flys, but the little black flys and gnats are not bothered by it. They eat my face up. What do you guys use to deal with gnats?

I've heard a dab of vanilla behind each ear will keep gnats away but I haven't tried it yet. They were bad Saturday and I had to pull my headnet up so my eyes were totally covered by netting. They eventually went away. Don't know of any other cure for them.

I use a thermacell. I have actually held the thing up to my face, and the damn gnats dont budge. This Fri. Ill try the vanilla trick. These things are driving me nuts. I must be getting old, because in the past it didnt seem to bother me as much, but now, they really get to me.[:@][:@]

I wonder what the deal is with these gnats. I put a new pad in my thermacell everytime I go out, I can actually see the smoke coming off of it, and the gnats dont seem to mind. Arrrrrggggg.

The Thermacell doesn't seem to affect the gnats here either, but with my headnet on I just end up blinking alot to keepthe little buggersout of my eyes.

Not sure I like the idea of using vanilla, I take great pains to keep stay scent-free. (even though I know they sell it as an attractant.)

Yeah those gnats are nasty! I use a tighly wolven face mask which helps some. Tuck it into the neck area of my shirt. Someimtes I'll even close up the area around my eyes until I see something....

I've also heard the Thermacells don't work on gnats....

We decided that there are bionic gnats out there this year. We have 20 + mph winds and they still didn't leave. Worse yet, they just seemed to follow where ever we went. Lost two arrows thanks to them being in the ears or eyes. Thermacell is not effective against the mutant gnats in NY. Might have to try the vanilla

maybe try a little of that scent block bug spray....that way you maintain your scentlessness and keep the knats at bay too. (I think I just invented a word!)

Is their such a creature? I know people use to say that No Stinking Bugs was scent free, but was always afraid to try it. And since I have not heard of anyone using it anymore, I assume it was not as advertised.

It's easy. You move to a state that you can't hunt until 10-18 when the gnats are all gone[:@]

Shannon Bug Tamer. Pricey, but there are times that the value of proper equipment is not measured in dollars. For me, being eaten by gnats is one of those times.
