Stand rotation.
I'm curious to know...for those of you who hunt almost every day, how often to you repeat a sit in a stand? Assuming proper wind direction for the stand setup, have you ever sat in the same stand as soon as three days after you last sat there? I'm curious as I the stand location I was in Saturday night is looking pretty good for tonight, but I don't want to over hunt it. I made that mistake for many years, and this year I'm trying to give time in between sits at each location. Thoughts? If the wind is good, should I give it a go?

RE: Stand rotation.
Ill most likely be in the stand I shot my doe from this evening;)Then Ill mix it up a little, depending on what I see.

RE: Stand rotation.
I'd say so. But it depends.
I often hunt a stand in the evening and then again the following AM if the stand is good for both times. I'll also hunt a stand on consecutive evenings if I think I have not been detected by deer. I might even hunt a third day in a row if it has rained over night. If I am busted, I'll give it a rest for sure. |
RE: Stand rotation.
the big thing is, have deer seen you in the stand??? I would try to take a different route to get to and from the stand hunting it that many days in a week. But if things set up right for you, then I would go for it.

RE: Stand rotation.
I wasn't busted on this stand on Saturday night. I only have one exit/entry route option, although it's an excellent route.

RE: Stand rotation.
I have 6 ladder stands on 15 acres, I have 3 set up for a North wind, and 3 for a south wind. So yes, I will more than likely hunt the same stand a few times within a couple week period.
