Ohio - Let this one walk

I was tempted, but I am hunting for something much larger. This nice 2.5 year old 8-pointer taunted me all afternoon. It was the biggest buck I saw all weekend. I will keep my chin up and get back out there next weekend. Hey, there is always the rut!

Way to hold off man. I saw a nice 2.5 year old myself yesterday afternoon but was able to hold off!

Good choice. I don't think you'll regret passing on him.;)

That's gonna be a GIANT in a couple years, if he makes it there.

Hopefully he will make it... Now I just have to convince everyone else to let him walk!

You have my respect! And to think I was proud of myself for passing on a couple of 6 points last year.:D I don't know if I'd have been able to pass that one up or not since I'm still after my first bow buck. What was Mowbow's old signature... "Does fear me... bucks merely laugh.":)

RE: Ohio - Let this one walk

This happened to me last season, passed on some of those "iffy" bucks and ended up not filling my buck tag. But hey, at least there's gonna be more shooter bucks running around this year!!!:D

RE: Ohio - Let this one walk

Man it was miserable this weekend... It was hot, and I mean hot (85+ degrees!).

I saw a bunch of deer Friday night, but only saw 2 does on Saturday morning and only saw 2 does walking out of my stand Saturday night. A "buckless" Saturday.

The only buck I saw of consequence was a small basket-racked 8-pointer... He was chasing the does around pretty hard at least!

I think you did right...if you had to think about it.

LOL.....I shot a 106" buck in '06 that looks just like him (my biggest, though).

definatly not a shooter if your going after a giant. give him about two more years .....then take him .

Thats a nice buck, definitely a shooter in my woods. I give you credit for letting him pass! As everyone else has said, he will be a dandy in a few years.

Nice buck, and a good decsion to pass. I also hunt in Ohio and if a buck like that walked in front of me, I wouldn't even be tempted to kill him. You'll never get the big bucks if you never let the smaller ones go.

RE: Ohio - Let this one walk

We all have choices to make when we're hunting and one of the most obvious is what to shoot and what to let walk. For many, this is a shooter buck for them. And that's fine!! For other's, we're going to pass and see what he looks like next year (hopefully;))!!

Well, hopefully a big slammer gives you the chance to get some payoff for your decision to let him walk. Good luck!
