Doe down this morning
 

After passing up several does and fawns the first couple times out I finally got a mature doe to come within range. Early this morning 3 younger does and a fawn came by offering easy shots, but I passed again hoping for something more mature. Almost straight up at 8am a nice mature doe came to my left at about 20 yds. Wouldn't you know it but the only limb hanging out from another tree was right in the way and I had to crouch down as I was already standing up. I shot a tad high and hit her low in the spine dropping her like a rock, but I had to climb down and finished her off with another shot. Not one of my best moments with the initial shot. Sorry about the pics...I totally screwed up when returning with a game cart and hitch hauler and due to quickly rising temps I took the photos with her tied up on the hauler, because I had taken my bow out of the truck while at home.....terrible pics I admit[:o]. Having her legs tied up makes her look smaller than she really is. Anyway, doe tied up on hitch hauler after returning home. Meat for the freezer!

That's a big doe! Her head looks almost as big as yours. And there's alot of meat on the shoulders. Nice shootin' Coug. Like Shultzy said, a killin shot is a killin shot. You got her.

I get hungry every time I see pics like this. I can't wait to eat some venison again.

i got a question bout the gut-job. whenever i gut my deer i only make about a 12-15 inch incision. that reduces areas where flys other bugs can get to.

why do you cut so far up the neck? im not being a di**, im just wondering lol

Rick, I did have a woman speed up and follow me in her car a ways yesterday when returning home....maybe my imagination. I am thinking it best to keep a tarp around to cover deer up while on the hauler.

Shawn, I was in a big hurry yesterday due to rising temps and gutted her quickly but I admit to not being the best at field dressing and always make a long cut UNLESS its a nice buck to be mounted;).

Gotta love having the feeling that your freezer will be full for another year! Now that you got the meat hunting out of the way, time to look for the big boys! Man, November can't come soon enough for me!
