Ulster county New York. One hour south of Albany NY a little over Two hours north of New York City.I have seen two bucks myself personally over 20 years of hunting that would qualify Pope & Young.Neither one was during legal hunting hours.A B&C qualifier would be a kin to winning the lottery.
The reason would be that are woods are primarily mountainous with no agriculture to speak of,no logging is permitted on state land so the forest is over mature and there is not a lot of productive under growth.Couple those things with pretty decent hunting pressure and a tradition of it's brown it's down and that doesn't create a likely environment for above average antler growth. We are beginning year three of antler restrictions in a couple of local game units,so we will see what the effects of that program are.

My one property is obviously capable of producing B&C bucks because there have been 3 taken off of it in the past 5 years- 198", 177" and a 166", respectively...As well as 2 twin 170+" droptines that were not taken by any known hunter.
B&C minimum Is 170".

You have some nice bucks on your property DT!
