How far is too far?

I had a buddy last week call me to help him track a deer...and while in the process of getting the hole gist of the story, he said he shot it at 60 yards!Ok I've heard of people making these long, crazyshots. For me,once they get past 40, I will not even think about attempting a shot. I'mthinking of myself being an ethical hunter, why take a shot that dangerously decreases the chances of bagging that deer. I would rather watch them walk then attempt tomake a tough shot and wound one no matter what the size/sex. This is my ethical standpoint...and my only standpoint. What is your range? Any otherthoughts on these extremely long shots?

Nothing past thirty. after that the arrow is in the air way to long. They could hear your bow and you het them in the back legs from a far distance.

If you haveany doubtsabout making the shot, it's too far.

30 MAX. Usually 20-25 is the farthest.

IMO the real problem with the long distance shots is that it gives the animal quite of bit of time (relatively speaking here) to move regardless of how gifted an archer is at hitting a spot. The olympic archers compete at 70 meters and they are redicluously accurate. However, put a deer, elk, whatever out there at 70 meters and try shooting at it. If it hears or sees that bow go off it can move a long way before that arrow arrives.

Every shot I've taken on a deer in archery has been within 25yds. I won't take a shot past 30 as of right now.
