I have a summit, but not the one your looking at. They are pretty comfy! Just make sure it is around 20 pounds. I carry my 21lbs stand through the woods and up a cliff! Get's your calf muscles burning, but still is one of the best ways to hunt! Just an opinion. Good Luck.

I've hunted out of Summits for the last 10-12yrs until this season.........All the way back to a model I'm sure you never heard of the "Sabre". [:-]
The viper is a great easy to climb with comfortable stand. Doesn't pack up all that neatly or compact.
The bar can be a hinderance for shorter bowhunters (Not me LOL)
It's super comfy and rock solid in the tree.

A little clinky, clanky setting up and packing up.

For bowhunting ONLY I wouldn't choose one, I'd opt for an open faced model but you could certainly do worse.

I have a summit viper, its a good stand to. I also have 2API grand slams and i like them a bit better. However, now the API is made in china so I cant speak for the quality of them now.

RE: Climbing Stands

thanks matt, i plan on using it for rifle and bow hunting, so i'd like to have a gun rest on it. i'm only about 5' 11" but i figure if i set the bottom part of the stand a little higher when i stand up my bow should clear the rest. besides i shoot a mathews dxt, 29 3/4 inches ata, so i don't think i'll have a problem with that

I agree with eveything Matt said.....and I still own and hunt out of my viper on occasion (Occasions when I think I might wanna catch a catnap);)

I bought the summit razor ss last year and it has worked flawlessly for me. It is made for bow hunters because the front bar detaches and folds out of the way when you are not climbing with it.
