Why do you use mechanical heads?T

If this has been done before I apologize. I was just wondering this today. I am betting that most people use them basically because they dont know how to tune their bow for their broadheads.

I got a new bow last week and today I went to shoot my broadheads. It probly took 15 minutes max and I was hitting a 4" circle at 40 yds. with my fixed blades. I dont have anything against mech. heads and I will probly still use them for turkeys myself.

Just curious.

Cutting diameter.......I doubt i will ever use a broadhead for deer from a compound anymore that will have a cutting diameter under 1.5" for a 3 blade.

I like 1.75" and up for my high energy set ups.:)

I don't one more thing to go wrong. Since my Muzzys fly true I'll stick with them.

I still plan on using mech. heads for turkeys because of the huge cut and their small vitals but for everything else I plan on using fixed blades. I just dont see the point I guess. Like you said one more thing to go wrong. My last two deer with fixed have went 30 yds. What more can you ask for?

I see posts all the time on forums about how guys cant get their broadheads to hit right, etc.

Because I have the KE to do it, when they come out with a 10"cut I will shoot them to. If I was worried about 1 more thing going wrong I would be using an osage bow and cedar shafts.[8D]

The only legitimate reason to use a mechanical is cutting diameter.

Actually you don't have the choice of "Safety: no exposed cutting surface" so I put "None of your damn business".

I use them for turkeys to get more cutting area...

That is a nice plus of the mechanical heads. I always liked that.
