PA Game Commission

I was hunting last night and the game commission came up on me. I was hunting in a township where hunting is illegal BUT the housing development i was hunting in has written permission from the township to allow archery only hunting on their property to control deer herds in the neighborhood. They have about 7 acres of wooded land in strips around the houses. Well one of the homeowners called me in and they came and gave me a bunch of crap. I showed them my copy of the papers from the courts and then we went to the head of the development and he shower them the original document from the court. They ended up calling the police and the police said everything is legal and they are informed of hunting being allowed there. Wel lthe game commission is stillthreatining to come and take all my hunting stuff for illegally hunting but everything was legal. They called me a 7:30am for a copy of my license number and all my doe tags numbers to make sure they are all good and asked if i harvested anythign yet. Its like they are trying to catch me screwing around. I do everything legal and we have a few developments like that we get to hunt in but this is the only one in a township that dose not allow hunting.

Hunting seven acres in a no hunting area surrounded by houses and you expected ....................................

I would volunteer no more information to the P.G.C. until you find out if you are being prosecuted. They are not your friends.

In my experience the PGC is a bunch of a-holes. Bottom line. When you see them in the woods, they are trying to find a way to get some money out of your pocket. Every run in I have with them they are ridiculing me and going through EVERY possible thing I could have gone wrong trying to catch me doing something illegal so they can fine me. PGC needs help.

It has been a few years since I have hunted in PA (where I grew up), but I always had good experiences with the game commission. Obviously, organizations change and personnel change, but I always found them friendly within the confines of doing their job.

you're not in a good situation right now. bawanajim is right, keep your mouth shut. I would seriously call an attorney to cover your arse. They will push on you till they get you to fall. You have to fight back with REAL help. Be prepared for it get ugly man. I've had buddies in similar situations, did nothing wrong, but ended up in court over it.

I've had several run-ins with game wardens in Pa, just checking up on me and licenses and stuff. I can say that after a half dozen or so meetings with the guys, maybe one of them ended with me feeling like I met a good guy. The rest left me dissapointed.

I don't tellpeople what to do, but perhapsyou should look to hunt elseware, somewhere outof the public eye. Hunting in places like that always seemed to lead to some sort of problems.

I am no game warden lover, but I do understand their situation. You have all met some of the scum of society that call themselves hunters. These guys (and gals) have to deal with them everyday, so if they don't give you the benefit of the doubt, be a little understanding. Maybe this will blow over, but I think it can't hurt to talk to a lawyer just to CYA.

Well i just got off the phone with them. I forget the guys name already but he contacted the courts this morning and they just got back to him. Everything i was doing was legal and i am not having any charges put on me. He thanked me for being helpful with them and giving them the info they wanted. He said they put it in their system that there are a few people allowed to hunt there and he got all the names of the people from the court to prevent all this in the future. They guy i just talked to was really nice. IM assuming he was a supervisor.
