New Bow

08 Diamond Marquis w/Viper Eliminator 3 pin sight, WB rest and Alpine 5 arrow quiver. Picked it up last week and I've been able to get 2" groups at 20 yds and had a robin hood the second day shooting. I'm still getting back "into shape" and have the odd bad shot, but right when that occurs I am able to recognize what I did so it's a start. I don't have any BH's yet as I won't beshooting at anything except a targetuntil I'm proficient again.. might not even make it out there this season, but that's okay. This thing is sweet and it's great to be shooting again.

I might be having an issue though and wanted to run it by you guys/gals. First let me say the WB is nice, but the vanes on the arrows are showing the wear from it. I already plan on getting them refletched with Blazers when I get the chance. However, I noticed today it appeared the arrows were fishtailing slightly. I am getting decent groups so this is why I'm not sure. Try not to laugh, but maybe it's an illusion with the orange cock fletch and the other 2 white fletchings spinning? I don't have any contact issues as I've already checked for that... have walkback tuned to 30 yds and centershot is good. I do have a couple arrows that have bad flight due to worn vanes so they have been set aside. Any ideas?

I have no idea what's wrong, but as you note, you are getting back into shooting. The odd fishtail may be form related. You may just want to shoot for a while until you are sure that your form is consistent through your entire practice session.

If the fishtail always happens with a particular arrow, there's your answer.

If you have some fixed blade BHs kicking around, try acouple to see how they hit relative to FPs. If they are not hitting the same, you could BH tune your rest. That may make the fishtail go away. Just a thought.

Thanks for the ideas.. I'll Bh tune and see how it goes.

The only remaining question would be, if they are fishtailing, would I still get decent groups or would they be all over the place?

You can get good groups with arrows that are not flying as well as they should. When you get them flying straight, your groups will onlyget tighter.
