Corn is being cut..... Good or Bad?

The hay on my hunting property was cut last week, the Corn on the borders of my hunting property are being cut this week. So basically, most of the food sources are being removed from my hunting land, Happens every year. Season opens Sat. But, I wont be able to get out until Monday, Hopefully, Rob(buck) or somebody will still hang around on the very few oaks we have.

I dont have permission to hunt the cornfield, Ive tried, even talked to the people who lease it for corn jsut today, They couldnt even help me.[&:]So Im taking the hint.

Should I set up as close to the freshly cut cornfield as possible?I have a stand there already, but they would have to be COMING from thecornI dont have any access to catch them GOING to the corn. How do deer react to freshly cut corn? I know the crows love it.

Deer will flock to freshly cut corn, just try to find a place to cut them off. That is how it has always been around here. I have seen some real slammers on the edge of my neighbors corn field when he cuts it. Not to far from normal bedding and plenty left on the ground.

If you have woods near standing corn that's being cut, be in a tree in that woods. The deer that have spent the summer lounging in the corn will be on the move. And come nightfall they'll be coming back to the cornfields they came to love. You get a couple days of deer that wouldn't otherwise be moving on the move.

You lucky dog Aaron!! A freshly cut corn field means more deer In your woods and not in the corn!!

Hunt the morning's catching them coming from the corn field to the woods to bed. Be careful and keep undetected when your walking In to hunt In the morning If you choose that route.

like the others said, its one less place for them to hide! my farmer ran out of corn to chop and had to chop the corn closest to my honey hole....thought id be upset when he told me...he left the field closest to the road so jacklighters dont have the opprotunity yet....so that was great...i was somewhat upset he didnt take the whole field....said he only made 3 passes...so he took...6 rows with his 2 row cutter. it gets downright frustrating when deer can basically LIVE in a corn field....perfer it to be gone...they still hit them hard at night...but daytime is out of the question in my area...and my honey hole functions as feed and a staging area...

i do have 1 cornfield to hunt that will be left standing...ive never hunted a standing cornfield edge...dont know if i'll butt against it or try to cut them off before they get to it...aughta be a good evening setup though...morning i dont think i'll risk till it gets picked...

Heres a full ariel of where I hunt with my current stand locations, My hunting in the Red, Corn in the Yellow. Everything else is pretty much off limits.

I'd be on that white dot furthest towards the corn.

I guess It really depends on your wind direction but don't be afraid to hunt the spot I circled If there's big enough tree's to set up in. The reason I picked that spot Is there confined to a much smaller area thus It might give you a better chance at what your after. Maybe the spot i circled Isn't much of a woods either, hard to tell from ariels. I'm still learning what the colors mean on these Ariel maps.

I agree with schultzy, this looks like a really good spot to set up.Access to the corn, and a really good funnel area.I might would try to get intowhere it starts the narrow hedge row. They wll almost always travel the row for some kind of cover.JMHO

Better hit them while its fresh! The farmers around me dont hardly leave a kernel behind, so the pickings is slim. If you get there in the first few days it should be some sweet huntin!

This just means that the deer will have less places to hide, and they love fresh cut corn.

No harvest removed all of the food there is alway spoils left behind and derr hammer them, I say good thing because now a major hiding spot has been removed and now you can see the deer enter the field in the afternoon

The circle portion is really not much to it, The woods you see is a stand of White Pines. Ive never seen much sign down there, The stage in thewoods on the other side of the horizontal cornfield, You can barely see it in the pic, but it is a nice little wood lot, probably 15 acres or so. It belongs to the same person as the corn field.:(

No better news than to hear the corn is being cut where I hunt. Hunting with Corn up is the worst news for me, because its never on the property that I can hunt, always bordering. Doesn't look like there is too much woods. I like your stand locations but I would set that one stand that is deep in the woods a little farther towards the field. With not much bedding cover around, I would worry you would bump deer going in and out of that stand. I also would like that spot at the top if there is a large track of woods out of the picture a little higher up, if not, I think hunting that small of a wood lot, you might spook any deer around going into the stand.

definetly hunt near the fresh cut corn for a little bit, you will start to see less and less deer activity and its time to move. find the best trail leading to and from the corn and set up just off of it and try to intercept the buck before he gets to the corn.

I would def. scout it out... If there is a good trail heading towards the fresh corn, then hang it along the fields edge and blast em when they come out. Its all about how you go upon doing it... I would glass it one night and go from there.
