stolen stand

well i went out yesterday afternoon to check on my stands before the season started and to make sure everything was ok. i got to the tree i had hung my stand in and couldn't find it! i thought maybe i had the wrong tree, but i looked all around, and still couldn't find it. turned out someone stole my stand! i went to check on my other one on the property and thankfully that was still there! i'm just mad that someone would do such a thing! i'm still deciding if i should go to the dnr or something or not, and if it's worth it.. but i'm going to tell the landowner to keep an eye out for my stand and climbing ladder. Yeah that bites!
I've had 3 stands stolen to date that were all locked up.
The thieves best hope that they don't get caught in the middle of the act, I don't think they will like the results from their hospital visit.

Went to my stand this morning and it was gone. The stand my brother in law went to was fine. With all the wind several weeks back I couldnt get to another stand so I went back to the truck. I layed there until about nine then I got up. Went to a little ridge and sat there. At 1010 am from the ground just messing around I shot a doe. We know who did the dead because they got us this spring. The people that live next to the property have a 14 year old son who has all kinds of problems and he messed up the stands. We threatened to go to the police if one more stand is damaged.

I had 3 stand stloen from me in a weeks time but got them all back. The kicker is it was police officers boy that took them. I didn't press any charges because the police gave then back and appologized for it.

Dang, that stinks.....I've had two of my climbing stands stolen over the years. I never leave it out there unless I know I am coming back the next morning.

I went to scout and set a stand yesterday and I have the opposite problem. We found 5 different ladder stands set on the property that only 3 of us have permission to hunt. They don't belong to the other two guys. And last year we had two guys stop us and complain we set out stands to close to theirs and told us we were tresspassing, until we pushed the issue and said lets get DNR out here and see what they say, we had written permission as required by the state they didn't. THey back peddled quickly and got out of dodge. My problem is that none of the land owners really want to do anything, as they all fear that the folks might come back and cause damage to their farms. We do all this prep and scouting and have folks constantly tresspassing, poaching and ruining a season of planning.

RE: stolen stand

yea it sucks... i didn't think it would happen to me. i live in a very quiet conservative part of the country where hardly anything gets stolen and people leave keys in vehicles overnight or doors unlocked ect ect. i didn't think to lock it up because i honestly thought people around here were honest enought not to take it! guess i was wrong [:@] i am going to keep an eye out for it, because it was stolen by public land.
