Where would you hunt?
http://photobucket.com/userinfo/reset/billy8point/b8eb500ea2dd6005d0b8db65069533598d78117e This is a new property I recieved permission to hunt. My wife's grandparents own it. There are other huntersbut from what I am told is that they only hunt a few times a year so that is not a concern for me. The dark area in the middle of the picture is a clear cut power line that is overgrown. No real elevation changes. Woods is surrounded by corn and a road on one side. I am including a key for what each color means. I also included a link to the picture if it doesn't work. I'm not good at posting pictures. Grey lines are cut 4-wheeler trails. No one rides them anymore but they are still very clear. The brown circle is an oak flat I found. Red dots are deer sightings- all does Yellow are two stands from the other hunters. I am allowed to sit in them. Dark blue line is a narrow, shallow, waterway that runs through the corn with about 10 feet of grass on each side of the water. Green line is a 3 feet wide path cut through the corn that leads to another woods. No permission to hunt that woods. About 400 yards of field between the two woodlots. Light blue is a groundblind I set up to hunt out of with my wife. Thin white line is the perimeter of the woods. Turkeys have also been sighted throughout the woodlot. Thanks for your help guys. I appreciate it. ![]() |
RE: Where would you hunt?
The deer will use the 4wheeler trails. They do, here. I hunt a woodlot with an old 4 wheeler trail through it....and they use that trail as their own.
You've got a LOT of options....and I just picked places I'd look at if I hunted there. You've got somewhere to hunt ALL winds....which is a luxury not everyone has. Good luck....and take my spots with a grain of salt. Rank beginner. ![]() |
RE: Where would you hunt?
Thanks a lot GMMAT. I really appreciate the help. I was thinking a couple of the same areas but you showed a few that I would have never thought of. You're right about the 4 wheeler trails too. The property I hunt now has a ton of them and the deer walk them like the trails are theirs. THanks again.
