Your thought process is truly the sign of a devoted parent. I am sure you will know when the time is right. I don't think there really is such a thing as too young, but each child is different. Growing up on a farm and around farm families, the death of animals and meat processing are a way of life. From as early as I can remember, I attended the traditional pig butchering at my grandmother's house the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Just be patient. You will know when the time is right for you children. (And, congrats on the deer!)

Whenever you do decide to take him, make sure you sit him down and explain to him exactly what he is going to see, ask him if he is ok with that and make your decision off his reaction. JMO
