arrow weights
I have a question. Yesterday i was at the bow shop and was getting some new arrows. I told them to weigh the arrow and match up the weights. My arrow weighed 376gr with a 100gr muzzy, asked me what poundage i was pulling which is 68 and they verifed that on a scale. They advised me to get heavier arrows and said what i was shooting was almost like dry firing my bow. Is this true or not?

RE: arrow weights
how long are your arrows? You should be a no less then 5grs per inch so take the arrow length x 5 and that will you the min. of the arrow you should be shooting. Hope that helps

RE: arrow weights
you should also check the chart at the shop and see if the spine of the arrow is right for the poundage.
I personally like the heavier arrows. If I remember right I think my arrows weigh 472grns, I could have went lighter but prefer the KE I get with the heavier arrows |
RE: arrow weights
Greg I am no guru on arrow weights, but I think 376 grains pulling 68#'s is fine. I pull about the same poundage as you, and my overall arrow weight is almost identical to yours...I am however moving up from 100 grain broad heads to 125 grain heads this week. The heavier heads seem to shoot more consistently for me...that will put me over 400 grains for my overall arrow weight.

RE: arrow weights
I told you wrong it is 5x draw weight that is the min arrow wieght.
I figured it and you should be at a min of 340 grns so you should be ok |
RE: arrow weights
no you are fine. you only need to shoot a 340 gr arrow to be within the specs. 376 gr is plenty. You can go heavier and it will be fine, but you don't have to to be within specs.

ORIGINAL: 74#ofkentic I told you wrong it is 5x draw weight that is the min arrow wieght. I figured it and you should be at a min of 340 grns so you should be ok Okay, your previous post had me wondering... let's see, minimum 5 grns per inch, at 423 grains I should be shooting an arrow about 84.5" long... :D Gave me my chuckle for the day! |
RE: arrow weights

RE: arrow weights
