Glassed Rob for quite a while this evening....

So I went out a little after 6:00 to see if anything ventured toward any of my stands. It was a good evening. Let me break it down for you. After seeing 4 does on my way in that could care less I was there I moved on to the fields I wanted to glass, and settled myself behind a Hay bale. After setting for a while, I finally see a buck step out of the woods. A nive little buck probably in the 70's" followed by a buck so little, assuming a spike, I couldnt see any antlers, but he was sparring with theabove deer, and then Came Rob. They were VERY cautious, I did nothing to elimate scent, But I was also 300+ yards away with a decent wind. They meandered in the field a while and started working there way to me....

Im thinking NO... dont come this way, and me standing 40yrds from a apple tree, I knew what they had in mind. Something spooked them. My scent? The house cat to my left? IDK but Rob snorted and took off about 20-30 yards back as pictured. The others followed, but As soo as they did, they let there guard down and started browsing, sparring, and such, and finnally at 7:45 worked there way towards my stand. Its dark in the woods at 7:45 here and still 2 weeks to go. So I didnt get too excited but It was deffinately nice to see.

The black line is my line of travel down the hay road. to the black X where i glassed behind a hay bale. The Yellow are where the 3 bucks came out from the Left to the right.
The Red are my current 2 stand locations, with a climber tree picked out in between.Just not there
yet.

So anything you guys would do different? Stand locations? I have larger arieals if you wish to see them.

Oh and for those of you who doesnt know who Rob is...

yea uhm, maybe put a stand in that hedgerow close to where they 90ed into the field more or just before that then you can walk down the hedgrow and use it as background cover, or cover period.

I will be entering my stands from the south of the ariel photo. Otherwise your idea would be good, but they really have no reason to go that way after the apples are gone. (that I know of.)

right, well the only other thing i would do would be to put one on that bottleneck where the 2 field meet the woods but if there isnt any trails runnig through there then i wouldnt worry, but keep an eye on that spot during the rut

Dont mean to change the subject, but I've seen the term "rob buck" on this forum quite a bit, and I think its high time I ask; What the hell is a rob buck?

The field to the south that youhavethe yellow dots surrounding, I dont have permission. Its a old field full of donkeys, mules, and horses. I may be allowed to enter there, but its really not much too it, except a Pine stand on the left.

I know that the yellow dot that you have pictured there to the right looks awesome, but the land must have canged or something since the ariel, because theres really not that many woods there, Its thick and small though. I really dont know why it looks that way, Unless my stand is further north and I just dont realize it....

Jeff, you need to make a trip up here one Sunday. We'll take a walk;)and if you get bored with your little NC deer. Your welcome here too, I dont know if Ive ever told you that before.;)
