This ought to be interesting.....lol.

We can't be "far" off! Use the formula I gave you above. Don't short yourself the 4 "H" measurements EACH beam.;)

If I had realized that the first buck I shot in any state would have counted for my team I would have passed it up, but I was only hunting maryland for Meat anyhow, so after I shot my bow and we relocated, When this guy walked down past me I couldnt resist. I could hardly even contain myself I was hyper Ventelating after I shot him, for crying out loud its a Spike that scores less than 25"!!!

Ryan.

If you know the score and have the buck why not enter it? You never know what your team may need to over take the top at the end.

Cause The score is less than Stellar, besides, The replacement seems to have his act together, bigtime, good pick for the team. Its more for the memory to me, rather than the Bragging rights, I got 40 pictures of him for crying out loud! I'll never forget this hunt as long as i live from the freezing cold to me about crying in a tree after i shot him.... I get a little excited (Stan potts comes to mind)

Yuns guys have to read the story I was freaking out!!

Ryan.

Just for giggles....how did you come up with that total?

my7pointmonster 09-22-2008 09:57 PM

RE: Guess This Score.

I dont have the card here.... the width was only 2" the picture is decieving.

Ryan.

I also remember, the one beam was 5 the other was like 4 and 2/8 and the masses added up to around 7 brining the total to 18 and change iirc...

Ryan.

RE: Guess This Score.

So your MB "H" measurements were less than 1"/ea?

Yeah...that pic IS deceiving (if the spread is only 2"). It looks to be 4 or more.

I'm just trying to make sure everyone (for the contest) realizes that it's damned hard to score less than 20" We were talking about it this weekend. If you figure 4" MB's.....1"/ea on "H" measurements....and a 4" spread.....you've got a 20" buck.

Not saying yours is....but it sure looks bigger than that.

Congrats again on your bowkill;)

16... those main beams cant be more than 4" and the other 5"...

How do you figure..?

LMB 4"
RMB 4"
Spread 4"
H measurement 1"
H measurement 1"
--------------------
14"

How do you figure..?

LMB 4"
RMB 4"
Spread 4"
H measurement 1" x4
H measurement 1" x4
--------------------
14" = 20"

4 H measurements per side.

fingerz42 09-22-2008 10:38 PM

RE: Guess This Score.

Even on a spike?? ...Did not know that..

TEmbry 09-22-2008 10:45 PM

RE: Guess This Score.

yup any rack gets all 4 h measurements..regardless the number of points.

I think the technical way to measure a spike is to measure it half way up, and multiply that number x 4 for each side...rather than taking 4 different h measurements for each.

i could be wrong on how to measure them though.

fingerz42 09-22-2008 10:48 PM

RE: Guess This Score.

Okay good to know. Question. If I am trying to score a 4 point then, I understand where my H1 and H2 come from.. but where do I get my H3 and H4? Just use my H2 measurements for H2,H3 and H4..?

TEmbry 09-22-2008 10:59 PM

RE: Guess This Score.

??? PM Buckeye....he is very knowledgable on scoring...as is Schultzy and GregH....there was a really good thread on scoring racks a month or so ago where these guys discussed proper scoring. Buckeye started the thread.

Ok, I am happy you got a deer and all, but this isn't right...so basically, were "culling" deer now? If I or one of my teamates shoots a deer that doesn't score good enough, we can replace them with someone who may or maynot score higher? This is sending the wrong message IMO.

Last year on my spike for the contest, I had trouble measuring also, I went to Rob.:D

I just took 1 H mearurement on each side and called it good, He scored 27":D

Congrats on yours!
