15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
I have been using aTrophy RidgeTitan V-drive micro GS(blah blah).
Anyway it is a single pin adjustable sight and I like it pretty well, but not impressed with the quality... I wouldnt recommend the sight to anybody now that Ive had it for a while... My concern is...trying to dial in yardage on a deer, seems like to much trouble in the moment of truth. So Im going back to multiple pins... most likley a Extreme RT-1000 I like the looks of the sight. So... how would you guys feel about buying a new sight and lining it up two weeks before crunch time? Ive sighted my bow in the day before, before. Im not too worried abut it. |

id say your fine, go for it

Man I've changed bows halfway through a season before. It ain't a big deal. Do it soon though, so you can get used to looking at multiple pins and picking the right one for whatever yardage you're at.

I'd say you'll be fine. I have a new bow on order right now that will be here mid next week, and I'll be using it on the 27th for the opener here. :D
Ok, maybe I won't use the new bow, I have another bow that has yet to draw blood on a deer that I bought this spring. |
RE: 15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
You should be fine. Hell, my brother got his bow setup the day before the season, and shot a deer 3 days after getting it setup, you should be fine with 2 weeks:D

Hey Jedi....If you like the looks of the RT-1000. You should spend the extra money and buy a Viper Predator Micro Tune. Seriously, its a better made version of the same sight.

RE: 15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
2 weeks should be plenty of time to sight in and get used to the new sight.

ORIGINAL: Rory/MO You should be fine. Hell, my brother got his bow setup the day before the season, and shot a deer 3 days after getting it setup, you should be fine with 2 weeks:D yikes, yall felt that was ethical? |

![]() I am telling ya make sure you see the difference in quality before ya buy the RT. Not knocking it, but for the extra money, the Viper is it. |

RE: 15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
sights are easy...a day on the range and you can dial in all the pins relatively quickly...if your not confident in your gear, you HAVE to change! confidence means the world!
i agree with ben...if you got the extra dough layin around, go with the viper....look around ive found them on sale numerous times...forget what i paid for mine but it was cheaper than the regular price.....that extension means a TON...the quality is AWESOME. its SOLID. machined very well..finished very well...everything is metal except the FOs.....never thought id spend that kinda dough...or want a sight like that...but im glad i went with it...not that i know of anything wrong with the RTs...they look like a decent sight, but i havent seen anything like the Viper...just really pleased with mine |
RE: 15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
Thats the thing, I really dont have the extra dough laying around, I found one for $70.00 TMD Thats about all i wanna go for a sight right now, I paid $80 for the one i have and it was $130 in the stores at the time....:eek:It would have been the worst $130 i had ever spent.[:'(]
I hoping to getmine on ebay and get something like $50 out of it to make it an affordable swap. |
RE: 15 days, and Im thinking about switching sights...
You'll be fine. The compounds these days are so simple to get sighted In that you should have no problems as long as you know what your doing. From the sounds of It you know your stuff when It comes to shooting. Switch It up so you feel better when your out hunting Aaron!!
Good luck team mate come deer season!!:) |

Hell, my brother got his bow setup the day before the season, and shot a deer 3 days after getting it setup, you should be fine with 2 weeks:D yikes, yall felt that was ethical? That doesn't mean it is ethical at all. Last year my brother got his bow a month before the season and was more than qualified than your brother, according to your qualifications. Still, he was hesitant to go out opening day with the risk of wounding or losing an animal. Just because you are effective with your weapon does not mean you are an ethical hunter, but it is a good sign. I don't want to sound like I'm preaching to you. I'm a strong believer in strong ethics and by reading your posts you are too Rory. But I just like to shed a little light on it and just cause you can hit dots in the backyard doesn't mean you'll remember your routine when the moment of truth comes up. Congrats to your brother by the way, saw the pic. awesome placed shot. |
