Well I used my thermacell tonight for the first time ever. It worked great, no bugs, zero! however, I had a doe and 2 fawns come running right at me and she stopped 15 yards down wind, put up her nose, looked right at me and bolted. THAT NEVER HAPPENS TO ME. I will not be using the thermacell for bowhunting ever again. fishing and turkey hunting and such fine it works great. but I got busted really hard core and that could be the only thing. I DON"T STINK, STABNSLAB is the STINKY ONE

I don't stink, StabnSlab is the stinky one! no, seriously if I can smell the thing burning then I am pretty sure that is what she smelt.

A deer is downwind I dont care what you have on she will smell you. Humans stink plain and simple.
You cant fool a deer's nose.
I do agree you can smell that thing burning but I still play
the wind best I can.

I went out with my thermacell one morning. No bugs at all. Went back out that night without it got eaten alive.[&:] I wont hunt fall without it again. Just get a little higher.;)

I figure I'm a pretty stinky SOB and use my thermacell religously during the early season, because I figure if I'm not smart and play the wind they are gonna smell me with or without it. So the options are do not use and get eaten up and find yourself figiting and twitching, use an unscented bug spray (which we all know are as unscented as my socks), or use the thermacell and stay motionless and play the wind like you should be in the first place.
