RE: The day my life changed forever....
Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
For those that said they were sorry this happend to me, I'm not. Like GR8 said, its one of the few life changing things that happens, the key is to grow from it......and I have. It has made me cherish every day I am alive and every day that I get to spend with my wife and young son is so much sweeter. Everytime I enter the woods, I enjoy it to the fullest, regardless of the weapon in my hands. I've never had a problem telling this story, but it was very difficult to "put on paper." Again, thanks a bunch....hunt hard and be safe. "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow." |
RE: The day my life changed forever....
One question, did you have any orange on? Out of pure curiosity. Did anyone ever find out who the two boys were that did this?? |
RE: The day my life changed forever....
ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer Dan, I for one am glad your still with us and I've enjoyed your posts and getting to somewhat know you over the years. I'm not taking anything away from the story and I don't mean to say I can relate but somewhat. I've been shot twice myself. The first, a shotgun blast to the back part of my upper leg. Pellets never entered my skin but it knocked me down and stung like hell. The second, I took a 30-30 ricochet in the lower back. Again, it never entered my skin but knocked me down and left a welt like I've never had. That one I honestly thought I was done when I ripped off my coat and clothes to see my brother look at it and about faint. I frantically reached for the hole and didn't find blood and calmed down. Again Dan, thanks for sharing and we're glad your around. |
RE: The day my life changed forever....
Dan , can you use that arm as good as the other one? Did the kidssuffer any consequenses...I'm a teacher and I notice that kids can get away with just about anything. Principals are looked down on if they suspend kids..and teachers are disciplinedfor yelling at them.

RE: The day my life changed forever....
Wow! Unfortunately, this is not uncommon anymore. I personally know two guys that have been "accidentally" shot while hunting. What a shame.

RE: The day my life changed forever....
Everyone has their life stories.....and I'm glad yours ended the way it did, Dan. You're probably a better man for it.....andthat speaks nothing of your life before it. I hope that makes sense.
What doesn't kill us .....makes us stronger.....or makes us see things differently. Congratulations on the latter. I needed to hear this, today.;) |
