G5 or Thunderhead?
which is a better all around broadhead?
|
RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
Try strykers...you won't regret it.

RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
I love my Striker broadheads as they fly like my fieldpoints. I have been shooting them out to 40 yards with exceptional results.

RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
I said Thunderhead based on the fact that most people don't have the patience or skill to keep the Montec sharp (assuming you meant Montec when you put in the manufacturer: G5).

RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
Don't fix it unless it's broke...
I've used Thunderheads since starting bow hunting in 1994. Never had one fail, even including hitting a rock shooting @ a Turkey 50 yards away. I believe the G5 is a very good design though. |
RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
I just switched from Thunderheads to the G5 Stryker. I've never had a problem the Thunderheads but the Strykers fly better out to 40 yards.

RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
Comparing the two, no problems with either in flight, but the similarities end there. For blood loss the Thunderhead is king. For cost the Thunderhead is king. For sharpness the Thunderhead is king. For avalability the Thunderhead is king.
The work required to get a G5 as sharp as a thunderhead is extreme. You have to take 3 edges that are 60 degrees down to 20, evenly. That's just on one head. I've shot both and neither was any more durable than the other. The cost on the other hand was significant. |
RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
This is going to be my first year shooting them, But so far I love them. They shoot like field tips. Really nice quality. I like em.

RE: G5 or Thunderhead?
Buckmaster--I was shooting the G5's this morning and they were very quiet for me.
