anyone hunt with an arm guard on?

So i was watching a hunting show last night, and a guy missed a nice buck because as the string was going forward, it hit his clothes on his arm, and this made his shot miss...

Anyone hunt with one on? ive never thought of taking one in the woods with me, but that scared me a little bit.

I watched the same show. His shot sailed about 1-2 feet over the back of the deer.

Does string slapping the arm cause an arrow to fly that much off course?

I myself have never needed an arm guard but some people do depending on your form.

Always when I have a bulky jacket or loose shirt on. Never if I'm just in a T-shirt.

I think it definitley caused his shot to miss by that much, cause you can hear it slap the sleeve really loud, and my hunting clothesare just as bulky as his was, so it go me thinking.

i use the real tree sock it works great!

ive had a sting slap my arm before, usually it causes the arrow to kick left or right and usually only by about 8 inchs max. Although didnt see the show, the guy really could have caught himself.

I use the one from buck wing that is show above. Actually for late season that make some tick gators that look just like that but don't have the support bars inside of them and I use those instead.

I used to wear one all of the time (even when target shooting with a t-shirt on[:-]). I have since changed a lot with my form, and I no longer need one when shooting with light clothing on, but I will still wear it in the woods. My ASAT 3d can get in the way at times.

I'm just not sure that it would be the cause of his arrow shooting a couple feet HIGH. Left or right or low would make more sense to me.

Yes I do to hold my jacket sleeve in.

Only with my longbow or recurve. Back in the day I just took a black sock and put it on my bow are forearm to hold in a bulky jacket.

Now I don’t use anything, I get no slap with an STS and good form.

I don't use one when practicing, but always while hunting.

Yep when pre-season practicing and when i gat anything other than a t-shirt on . String slap hurts and my saunders definately helps .

Yep, wear one similar to this all the time. May try that sock as well. Looks like it would work.

I do if I am wearing a heavy jacket, but only to keep the clothing held down. Honestly I have never had the string hitting my clothes throw a shot off though, it just makes a lot of noise is all. Normally if you missed you probably would have missed anyway.

Just think, any obstruction to the string going forward is going to throw a shot off in some way.

I have one of these and never leave the house without it. keeps your clothes out of the way while still protecting your arm.

I missed a 12 yard late season doe because I forgot to put my arm gaurd on. [:@]
String hit my arm, threw the shot left, the arrow whizzed just in front of her brisket, and stuck in the snow just behind her. She heard it hit, and turned toward it to check out the sound, bu tI never got a second shot because of the other doe she was with. Too many eyes.

I use the Realtree EZ Arm Guard when I am wearing long sleeves. It does a good job of keeping the sleeve out of the way.
