Choosing Arrows
Okay, so I gotta buy new arrows this year. Only my second year to deer hunt, but I only started out with four arrows and lost one so...long story short, I gotta get some more!
Many people have said that the gold tips set the standard. If so, which ones??? Do I go out and buy the most expensive ones? Or, is there really much difference between GTs or Beman or Easton. ( I think Beman and Easton are the same company...am I right?) I'm just trying to figure out what will be best for my $$. What sort of fletching do you guys recommend? Are vanes better than feathers or vice-versa? I've seen some vanes that are shorter than others, what does the length do to performance? Last but not least, I have some pretty cheap broadheads right now, should I invest in some new ones? If so, Are Muzzy heads the best? 3 or 4 blade? Thanks for all of your help! |
RE: Choosing Arrows
I have found that many carbon arrows are the same.. you can spend just about as much money as you want... as for broadheads... i have shot muzzys in the past and they are very reliable, i switched to RAGES this year.... muzzy 4- blades are the way to go for those though

RE: Choosing Arrows
Lotta choices out there, but you're gonna get what you pay for.
Like Hoosier said, carbon arrows are the way to go. I like Carbon Express Maxima Hunters, personally. Good spine, very straight, holds its integrity. ACCs are great. I just boughta half-dozenless expensive PSE X Weave Predators for just over $40. I took about 100 shots with them last night and I like them a lot so far. Hard to beat Carbon Express in my opinion though. As far as vanes go, I like Blazers. Regular Blazers and also Blazer Quick Spins have been good for me. You might hear some trash talking about the Quick Spins though. |
RE: Choosing Arrows
One thing not mentioned is tuning your bow to theSPECIFIC arrows you're gonna hunt with. I don't see how people can switch up arrows and have them all fly true.
Pick one.....go with it....tune your bow to IT....and don't switch up (without re-tuning). |
RE: Choosing Arrows
The ones I have now are Beman Ventures. They were a gift. I plan to stick with whatever I get, so I just wanna make sure I have made a wise purchase.
Thanks for all of the advice! |
RE: Choosing Arrows
IM shooting Beman ICS Hunter 400's. They fly good from my bow.
