FOP, sorry ... your question came through as I was posting the last answer...

Yep, you're right; these are basically your every-day Wal-Mart variety. In fact, the one on the right that Fred the cow-killer is sitting in front of was just purchased at Sam's Club the previous week. It was the only one that sustained any kind of damage at all, as he had one of the top aluminum poles holding his cathedral ceiling up kink in those high winds that one day. We joked that it was the hurricane down in the Gulf which had made it up to us already... it was pretty ridiculous.

Other than that one pole in those huge gusts (and you saw what it did to some of the trees), they worked flawlessly. Second year in a row using tents like that, and we'll be using them again when I return -- unless I've bought my travel trailer by then. I've got my eye on one in my subdivision that some neigbhors have promised me first crack at when they sell it next year. Some Missouri friends from a town close by pull theirs every year, and they have an awesome setup to hunt out of, obviously. They caravan up there and basically set up an RV park on the side of the mountain.

Man I jealous. In all it sure seemed like a great hunt full of memories. Someday, I'll go back but that elevation really kills me. [:@]

Greg, sounds like you had a great time as you know it's not always about the kill. Thanks for a great story and pics.

Greg, thanks for sharing everything, stories, pix etc.. Elk hunting doesnt always equate to a kill but is sure is awesome just being out there in the big country with them. Again sounds like you had a great time and it just wasnt meant to be this season.

It sure looks like you had a great time. That is some beautiful scenery you had out there.

Good luck getting some backstraps of your own next time.
