2008 Mast Forcast. Got Nuts?

After last years massive acorn drop it seems like here in the NE things are going to be a bit more sparse. What kind of crop forcast is there for your area??
This season the hickory's are loaded and my deer just don't seem to favor them so I'm hoping for some isolated pockets of whites to produce.

Just a little tidbit.....Acorn trees usually produce their most abundant crop once every 4 years

Horrible acorn crop for Indiana,OHio, and Kentucky this year (atleast in my region, where all the states come together).. Zero acorns on white oaks because of last years drought. Bur Oaks in my area have a acorns the size of golf balls. I thought Bur oaks were in the white oak family so Im confused as to why there are zero white oak acorns and good bur oak acorns. Maybe someone has an answer

Mostly cedars where I am at with a few scattered oaks, which should be a good thing but the cedars are so dang thick. To set up on some of these awesome oaks we have I would have to take minimum of 6-10 trees (not just trimming either)just to get a shot in one direction.....Needless to say I stick to the trail systems they have through the cedars....

I had white oak acorns last year. It won't happen again this year. Might get some of the red oaks dropping though. Beechnuts are pouring down big time, that's for sure!;)

Now that you say that, I noticed the other day that the oak trees here aren't nearly as full as last year.

The white oaks in my region give up acorns every other year or so, depending on the maturity of the tree. I have two GIANT (200yr old)white oaks that only give up acorns every three years. Here's one of them.
