Get the Thermacell Holster...yes it ok to lay it down..but if it falls to the ground..WHAT A BUMMER!!! so buy a holster and attach it to your climber..I keep mine in front of me,,Our skeeters are horrible.,,but the Thermacell does work..The holster carries an extra butane cartridge and some blue pads..It can be expensive..The blue pads burn up in about 3 hours and the butane runs out in about 8 hours..

As for the wind, in my experience if it's windy enough to make the Thermacell less effective, it's windy enough to keep the skeeters away for you.

Just wondering, how well does the Thermacell work? I was also thinking of getting one.

I actually picked one up at Wally World today. I can't believe that Thermacell doesn't install a hook or some kind of hanger on the device. So, i got onto ebay today and ordered one of those damn holsters for $15.00. This thing better work because i'm up to $37.00 now![:@]

Apparently the smell that it releases does not affect wildlife, except for bugs.
Saw the next generation the other day...

earth scent.:DThey even have them in a scent attractant.

Things get hot. You'll learn soon enough when to turn one on. The jurys out with me. I think they work but there are times when they don't seem too, at least not in the range they claim they will.

KDSBERMAN

Good morning,

a.You take the end of the Thermacall off and screw in a butane cartridge until snug.
b. slide one of the blue mats under the burner grill.
c. switch Thermacell on..
d. push ignite button till it lights up..you can see the red little fire in the peep hole at the end of the Thermacell unit.

I have asthma and the Thermacell does not effect me..It's almost odorless..When I first get to my stand I hold it close to me..until the skeeters are gone..then I adjust the strap on the holster and attach it to my shooting rail of my Summit. Why it works?..I don't know..it just does.;)

I bet you go to bingo to try and pick up women. I light mine in the car about ten minutes before I get where I'm hunting. Buy the holster, they're ten bucks at wally world. The thermacell needs to lie flat to be most effective and the holster keeps it in this position. As far as wind goes, if its too windy for a thermacell there's usually no mosquitos either.

Wally world has the holsters for $9.99, don't worry they work.
