I agree with TexasBowHunter, but sometimes you can't always shoot to practice. For example, you're moving in town. Where are you going to shoot everyday? At the indoor range for $6.00 a pop? Shooting everyday will add up to $168 a month. Too pricey for me. This is what I do at the start of the season.Just take your bow inside. You can do one of two exercises:

1. Pull the bow back to shooting position in sets (do not dry fire). Don't worry too much about form. You're just looking to build endurance. At the same time don't just starting ramming your arm back and sacrifice all the practice you've put in.

2. Draw your bow back and with proper form look through your site. Follow lines in your house. Start with straight lines then work toward objects with curves. The point is to have the bow drawn for extended periods of time. Or you can simply pick a stationary spot, draw, and aim for 10 seconds and build up to higher times.

There are actual exercise devices sold out there that can help with this. But personally I just bought a couple of the resistance stretch bands from the local sporting goods store. I've found all kinds of exercises to do with them.

Bent one-arm row with a dumbell. It is extremely similar to drawing back a bow

Resistance cords are a great idea. Get a couple of those, attach'em to a bed post or something, and draw your arm back like you would with a bow. Should help out a lot. If you have access to a gym, bent over one arm rows are a similar exersize that would mimic the draw motion. Also, seated rows on an overhead/under machine. Really any arm pullexersizes would do the trick. Tricep workout are what your looking for.

You could kneel on a bench with a weight in your drawing hand with it haning loosely toward the ground. Then roll your shoulder muscles with the weight.Very good excersize and very safe. But shooting the bow is the best imo.
