RE: Form/Draw length question

As some others said if anything it is a bit long. She is leaning back a bit and her anchor is behind her ear instead of under it. It looks like her bow arm is fairly straight too. As Matt said if you can get her to lean into the shot more it may clear that up. TFox had a good suggestion too on the release. A shorter release will put her anchor in the right spot and put her draw arm where it needs to be.

If she is long it isn't by much so the form changes and a new release may fix it. Is she shooting a loop? If so you could also have her shoot off the string to bring it in a bit as well.

HuntingEd, are you sure this isn't just a ploy to get pictures of your cute wife on the forum? Just kidding. Best of luck to both of you this year!!

Haha! Nope, I'm really trying to help her w/ form so she can be more consistent, she's got great shooting instincts and I wanted some good advice.

Now I may have used it to post a pic of my cute pup! But he was patiently watching us shoot, so I had too :D

haha, I was nervous to post even those! I'm not one to brag:D

But it was cool, she was reading the responses last night and trying to put the advice into practice w/ an imaginary bow. I'm sure she'll be bugging me to shoot tonight! And thats the best thing to be nagged about!

Can't complain about a wife wanting to shoot with you. My wife was hinting that she might want a bow when we got the new one for my son.

A bit of building good form advice:

two things I see are she's leaning a bit and her bow shoulder is raised a bit.

the lean is easy to fix: Before she draws, put all her weight on her front foot, to the point of picking up the back foot so only the toes of her right foot are being used for balance. Have her draw, then settle back to a 50-50 weight spread.

this does two things:

- checks if her draw weight is to much and causing the lean
- makes it VERY obvious when she leans.

Looks a tad long to me, but she really needs to not lean back before we can really tell. Get another pic with her standing straight with her shoulders over her hips and that will give us a better idea.
