Which Scent Elimination Sprays do you use and why?
 

I am looking for some info on all the different products out there. I have used Hunter's Specialties in the past, currently I am using Scent Killer products. I know Scent Shield has been around for a while, but a close friend mentioned to me the other day that he uses Dead Down Wind ranging from body soaps, field wash cloths, laundry soap and field sprays.
1) What do you use?
2) If you use Dead Down Wind, do you like their products?

I used HS Scent Away last year, This year I think Im going to try Primos products... no reason really, just something new.

I have always used the hs scent away products but whenI was working the hunters extravaganza the guys at the Primo's booth were doing a test with their new stuff, they took two cups and put in some cotton balls then put in some doe pee and sprayed in the cup with their spray and then with the HS spray and when I smelled bothcups Icouldn't smell the doe pee in theirs but I could in the other.I will buy some primo's spray and try it at the house myself, even though I watched them do it, and go from there. If I get the same results at home as they did at the show,I will be using their silver xp.

I use any of the name brands, but I did buy 10 bottles (32oz. spray bottles ) of DEAD DOWNWIND from Cableas a few months ago, they had them on sale for under $4.00 per bottle

Scent Killer. Seems to work very well, but I've never tried anything else. I did see the Primos stuff advertised in this month's Bowhunting mag, I may give it a try when this runs out.

I use Silver xp. Why, because it works.

i normaly get the H.S line of products for scent killer but i would not think twice of using dead down wind the primos stuff or any name brand.
I had a spot on my floor where my puppie peed it had a smell to it if you got down on the floor i sprayed some scent away on it and it is gone.

Proper preparation and maintenance of ones hunting clothes has very worked for many years. Did something change that we now need to buy sprays?

Longbows and Recurves have worked very well for many, many years. Do we need to use Compound bows?

Last year was the first year that I used Dead Down Wind. NOt sure if I like it yet or not. That was the first year in 5 years, that I ate tag soup.

If a deer pees on me, I am gonna get some Primo's stuff. Other than that I like the little pac man spray.:D

I use DDW e3.....because it was in an affordable kit that had the mouth spray, laundry detergent, e3 spray and dryer sheets. I only used the DDW e3 the year before.....and it worked OK, I guess. I used the white lightning spray for the '05 season....but hated it because of the residue.

I think there are probably several of these products that will get the job done....and I wouldn't attribute any of my failures or successes to any ONE of them. I'm sure they are all good products.

Fall Blend!! Why because it smells like dirt, I smell like dirt, deer dont mind dirt...!


...the girlfriend dont like the smell of dirt though...:D

DDW is my choice. i use their shower products, deoderant, and body foam and field spray....i like their stuff...

ive used other soaps and stuff and they had a NASTY smell to them...DDW DOES SMELL, but it quickly fades and is gone....other stuff ive smelled on me a long while after using....i like my DDW...

along with a plastic bin for my clothes, boots, gear

rubber boots

scent lok

hunting the wind

watching my entrance and exit routes

etc etc....showers and sprays are just a part of the scent control game....im sure most of them do some good...but ive used atleast 1 brand that just had a nasty smell....and used other sprays that just didnt seem as effective as DDW...

As well as mine, however the only thing I DON'T use from them is the field spray.

For that I prefer "Hawgs Limited-Vanishing Hunter" it is the best I've found to date.

Ohhh almost forgot I also started using Deer Dander last year, I cant say i noticed anything different but it sure does smell a lot like deer??

scent killer...and last year i tried white lightening from scent blocker. scent blocker works a lot better IMO

hyea i use white lightning by scentblocker too i like it and i will truy some primos this year

I use DDW not just because of their spray but also because of their full-line of products. I am not sure if the mouth spray is 100% necessary but man I could drunk that stuff it tastes so good LOL.

I don't put much stalk in scent sprays. Did we ahve them 30yrs ago when deer #'s were down. This guy uses Tide..... and then Bounce sheets. His wife does his laundry or so I think. He doesn't care. Now some guys like me have to hunt hard and don't wanna take any chances. Especially with a big buck close.


Sometimes you have the best land in the world. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes everything doesn't work out. Thats why its called hunting. Like I said..... when you have to hunt hard you use products that will cover scent. Most work. Mybuddy doesn't use them. I do. [&:][&:]Use whatever or don't. HAVE FUN

Amen to that!!

I usually just use whatever is on sale really, if you look at the components there pretty close, but I wont use white lightning because of the resadue seems to be a universal problem so i just avoid the stuff. But DDW has been the choice for me for a long time if Im being picky.

I think I still have a bottle of DDW, so I will probably be using that this year. I honestly think that most of them are comparable though.

I just recently washed all my clothes...then packed em in tubs and put some leaves and clumps of moss inside...they should smell good by day 1.
