3in vs 2in fletchings?

Hey guys, my bow guy was saying the other day how you can gain a little arrow speed by switching to 2 inch flethchings rather than 3 inch, are there any cons to making this switch?

I don't know about that, all I do know is I exclusively use the 2"'ers...just my preference I guess, I am sure some others will know the technical data.

I would suspect that the speed gain would be undetectable with anyhting but the most senstive chrono (1-2 fps). You will move FOC forward a microscopic amount but it will also be hard to notice also. I shoot the 2" Blazer and prefer them over all other vanes because of their durable construction. They will take punishment that desroys (rips, crinkles) other, longer vanes. I have an arrow that has been through 2 deer and I am still shooting it with the same Blazers.

There are lots of good reasons to try the switch but I would not anticipate big gains in speed.
