Opening day finally here for Elk Hunters!!!!
I am so jacked right now. A little after 3 in the morning and I am up and couldn't sleep. Up the mountain I go. Good luck elk hunters. Scouted a herd on Saturday. Time to sneak in and see what happens.

Well it didn't work out. Good thing there is plenty of time left. I don't know where the herd went. Heard a few bugles but think it was other hunters trying to get one to answer because I bugles back with no sucess. Saw a lot of sign in the area but no elk. I think I was too low too early plus somehow in two days about 100 head of cattle headed into the area. Had to pick somewhere close to hunt the morning because have to work tomorrow. Week 3 is my big week. Everything until then is just extra Just mulies which I had a license for but decided not to shoot since I want to chase elk first unless a big guy steps out.
Man it was good to be out in gods creation and can't wait until the 3rd week. Should be bugling and get to go to my favorite spot. |

Every weekend. I just think as warm as it has been that it may take until mid september for the rut to hit full swing here. But then I bite my tounge as it was in the 30's last night with a chance of snow but 60's and 70's during the day. Who knows in this country.
I plan to hunt every chance I get. Too bad I have a seattle trip the second weekend. |
