The length is fine. I used to feel that it had to be 7" or less for hunting but the one I use now is 11.5" and it's no problem. I prefer to get the weight at the end, it just seems to stabilize better that way.

I'm betting you'll like just using the limbsaver stab, but you wont learn anything if you don't try them all.
