This is an old fella.. certainly not a 3 yr. old.. nor 4.

Notice the sagging belly and bone structure easily seen through the hide. 4 and 5 year olds don't have this.. unless they are unhealthy.

And a neck on a animal in his breeding prime will often be larger.

A hard guess for any animal after 5 years...

But I would venture that deer to be 5 years plus. I say 5 years plus because its nearly impossible to get real accurate from a pic after 5. And more than likely he is 6 or 7 years old. Possibly older.

Take him and find out.:)

No way that buck is only 2.5 years old, he is min 3 1/2 possibly 4 1/2 and it's tough to guage score but looks like he will end up in the 150's, good luck either way

I have to agree with duke, from the looks of his belly and back, I would say he is old. I love the drop, have always wanted one but never gotten it. I am thinking he is going to go in the mid 150's. He would be prime for taking, good luck getting on him.

3 Year Buck
Middle-age: (2.5 to 4.5 Years old): Face will be straight with a flat muzzle and nose with a straight lower jaw line. The body will generally be larger than does, heavily muscled, appear to have a larger neck and shoulders. The back will be straight or just starting to sag and have round hips and rear. The tarsal glands on hocks will be larger and darker. These deer are less social, only on occasion being around does and young bucks outside of the rut. Antlers are starting to darken but relatively thin at the base.

5 Year Buck
Mature Buck: (4.5 years and older): The face will be graying at the muzzle and forehead, with often a dark coloration on top of the head between the antlers. Nose is "Roman" and appears blunt. The jaw line will show signs of sagging or appear loose. The body of the deer is now muscled up and appears much thicker with short looking legs, deep mid body and deep neck and shoulders. Look for heavy shoulders, square hips and rear and an obvious "pot-belly". The tarsal glands on hocks will be large and dark. The deer walks with a slow stiff gait and is mostly a loner, except during the rut. Antlers will be wider than his ears, dark in color and carry good mass.

I still think thats a young guy, 2.5-3.5 The muzzle and forehead aren't graying nor is it a very muscled up deer. Also, no sagging back nor pot belly.

i would have to say 3.5 years old. again as most have said mid 150's. does not have the mature look of an older deer to me. but also very hard to tell in a picture.

I would say at least 4 1/2 years old, if not 61/2 or 7 1/2 & after his prime. Looks like he has a lot of junk, and probably a lot that we can't see. I'd give him a non-typical gross score of 165-180.

Hey carpmaster Obama will still protect our rights as hunters. Republicans just lower the taxes for the rich and leave the middle class, like my family with high taxes

really not appropriate IMO to lecture on someones signature, take it to a pm

That buck is a MINIMUM of 4-1/2 years old, maybe a 5 year old. In the low 160's - tough to tell from the picture because he has some non-typical stuff going on that is tough to tell, also not fully grown there.
