RE: Rangefinder incline calculation!
I got into a discussion with a guy at work about this. He wanted on of the new range finders with angle compensation. So, using the Pythagorean Theorem, we figured up several scenarios, and in every case, the added distance was approx. 1 yard. Here in Indiana, shooting on mostly flat ground, with most shots being 40 yds. or less, he decided the extra $300 wasn't worth it. I could justify it maybe out west where you may be making longer shots, or with really hilly terrain, though.

For Hawkeye:
If we all took your approach we'dstill be using sticks and rocks. No reason to reinvent the wheel here. Should I spend my very limited time climbing trees and experimenting, orfishing, scoutingand hunting??? Its very quick and easy to post a question on company time. IMO these sites should be used to make hunting as low-cost as possible to fellow hunters. Feedback on range finders, stands and other equipment should be a priority on these sites. Itstinks to spend a lot of money from my limited resources unneccesarily on some piece of shxt equipment. Lastly, nothing pxsses me off more than getting a wise-arsed responsefrom some knucklehead. These posts have subject lines. If you don't like the subject then don't read it or respond to it. Duh!!!! |

Posted 2 days ago... There is also a search feature that you can use... You also might want to drop the name calling, if you want to stay around... For all you know I might knap my own broadheads and wrap them on cedar shafts with sinew... Nothing beats in the field experience and testing our equipment under real life conditions...Nothing... Good Luck this season.. |
RE: Rangefinder incline calculation!
I think it is a gimmick!! I just bought my first rangefinder and I opted not to waste my money on the stupid arc technology. Now, if I had to shoot like two thousand yards away then this stuff might start making sense. However, the difference isn't big enough to shake a stick at.
