ha, thats funny...Im the same way though. I want alot of stuff but I just can't spend that much money on stuff I don't 'need'. I just got outta college though and can't really afford it anyway w/ all the student loans. Plus, when your young and broke and married, its not worth trying to explain to your wife why you spent X amount on ___ that you really didn't need.

I will spend 500-1000 a year on hunting but most of that is gas. I hunt 105 miles from my house.

I must say I do agree with everyone when they say that the money doesn't matter. If I hadn't picked hunting up I probably would have gone nuts. It's nice to enjoy nature and our freedom so I think money is not an issue to worry about. As long as I spread my spending out.

I know I spend a lot less than the average golfer who spends $100 a week for for 6-8 months out of the year.

Actually, hunting is paying me back.
I bought land in 2003 at $1750 an acre and this year, in my area, it is going for $3,000 to $3,500 an acre.

You sellin'?;)

I like the way you think, though. We have to forget that as the land increases in value .....so do our property taxes. And it's nice if we can overlook the fact that the only way to realize the benefit of the increase in value is to either lease it out or sell it.

Nice to know you COULD if you needed to, though:)

I prefer not to add up or think about how much bowhunting cost me. It's one of those things I'm better off not knowing.;)

Thousands of dollars on food plots? Holy Hannah. Couldn't they lease their land to a farmer to grow the beans for them and then hunt over them? Geez. Anyway, I am spending a whopping $30 on no till seeds this year to renew my secret spots in clearings in the woods.

My father in-law, the guy who always shows up to haul my deer to the processor for me in his pick-up (wife won't allow them in the back of the van?) always jokes while he eats my venison with me, "this is prime stuff, probably about $75 a pound when you count everything." :D

But seriously, it's hobby, sport, passion, whatever you want to call it. I could buy beef a lot cheaper but I have fun trying, failing and ultimately succeeding.
