Harness question

With buckmaster's and Indiana's posts about safety harnesses, it made me realize that I need to buy one. I don't have one (first year bowhunting, never hunted very high with a shotgun) and was wondering as to what your guys' opinions on some decent, but not outrageously priced harnesses would be.

I definitely wanna go witha vest, I think I'd get all tangled up with the other kind!

So basically, what are your opinions on some of the ones you have usedin the past? Any info would help as it looks like I'll be making purchase soon!

I have never used the vest harnesses but i heard they work pretty good. They are expensive though. I always use the ones that are given to me when I buy a new stand. You can find a good full body harness for about 20-30 dollars at a sporting good store. The vest ones are at least 80 dollars.

RE: Harness question

It's tough to go wrong with the Seat O the Pants fastback harness for $70. Otherwise, the Hunter's Safety System PRO is the way to go, but it'll cost you about $50 more. Tough to put a price on your safety. I like the above two because their design keeps the saftey rope (attached to the tree) out of the way and gives you room to draw for a shot. I've used a couple others (Gorilla's harness was one of them) and the safety straps was always in the way and was a little short which made pivoting in the stand tough. Cost wise, go with the SOP, otherwise the Hutner Safety System PRO.

I have a HSS Pro Series Vest and I love mine. They have cheaper models available but you can't put a price tag on your life!

RE: Harness question

Oh yeah if you don't want to spend money on a vest I just bought a Gorilla stand and it came with a harness...better than nothing.

All you would have to do is pay for the shipping andI can send it to you if you don't want to spend a lot of money. PM if you want it!
