Overspined?
I seem to be having some issues with my new arrows. They aren't groupingas well as my other arrows.I was a little worried about the arrows being too stiff. So what would I expect to happen if the new arrows areoverspined?
I shoot a 07' Tribute at 70lbs and 27.5'' smooth mods (got speed mods on the way) Old arrows are HunterXT 5575's. 26.25'' at 358gr toal weight New arrows areHunter Pro's 7595 26.50'' at 440gr total weight. |
RE: Overspined?
OK, at that arrow length you are one of the few people shooting GT's that I would say is overspined. And, yes, it's very likely that groups can open up some if the arrows are too stiff.
At what distance are you shooting? If the groups get progressively larger as distance increases it could be an FOC problem, also. Something paper tuning won't tell you. What made you change shafts? |
RE: Overspined?
At all distances that I shoot the Pro's don't group at well as the XT's.
Better example. I don't group shoot with the XT's until I get out to 30+ yards even with field tips because I bust too many arrows. With the Pro's I can group shoot under 30yds and every now and then abust nock. However, at 30yds the Pro's do group well enough to shaveoffletchings withBHs. They aren't flyingall over the place and they are flying straight its just that they don't groupaswell as the XT's. Iswitchedbecause I wanted to go with a heavier arrow and misread the chart when I ordered them. |
RE: Overspined?
Jason,
I have a dozen GT Pro Hunter's 27" 5575 with 2" blazers. Will youtrade for your 7595 Pro Hunters? If you don't have a dozen, that's ok too. I have 121 positive feedback on ebay as kdbwilson. Thanks for your consideration, Kevin |
RE: Overspined?
The speed mods will probably put you real close to being dead on with the spine.
Is it possible you are having some contact issues with the new arrows? |
RE: Overspined?
Is it possible you are having some contact issues with the new arrows? I switched from Radial X-weaves and a/c/c 3-49's to a/c/c 3-71's last year. I was trying to get a heavier hunting arrow setup. What I didn't take into account.....was the difference in arrow diameter with the switch. The 3-71's are a larger diameter arrow. This threw my sight off a LITTLE. What it also did was bring fletch contact into the equation. What used to go by my cable on my Bowtech would NOT go by now, because the larger diameter arrow pushed the vane into the cable, causing contact. Something to ponder. I had to switch the orientationof the cock vane on my setup to thwart this. For normal hunting situations (shots to 40yds) I saw NO discernable differences in POI, though, with the heavier spined arrows. I was also pushing them down range at likely 300fps, though. Just an FYI. |
RE: Overspined?
No. No contact. Thats the first thing that came to my mind. At 30yds I am busting nock after nock with the Hunter XT 5575's. At 30yds with the 7595's I can get two to touch. Then the next two will touch, but be an inch to the left or two the right or high or low of the first two.
I really hate it too b/c I spent a lot of money in these arrows and I love the reflectivewraps. |
RE: Overspined?
I think that I have the problem fixed. When I switched over to the speed mods it really helped. I'm going to shoot for a few more days before I give up on them.
