XX75 or XX78?
 

How much difference is there in these two shafts. I want to buy another dozen arrows for my longbow. It is shooting 2016 XX78s really well. If I get XX75 2016s do you think I'll notice much difference? Is one more durable than the other? I don't really care about the straightness tolerence difference of .003 compared to .002 I may even go really cheap and just get Gamegetters. Will it really matter?

78's no question. They hold up a lot better.

My own personal experience.. go with the 75's!!! I used to shoot nothing but them, and one day decided to try the 78's and they seemed to fly horrible and bent EASILY compared to my xx75's!????

They were in 2314's!

stay away from the GGII's, but the 75's and 78's are both very good arrows....I'm not sure you'll benefit much from the more expensive...

I can't tell any difference...

I was hunting with Gamegetters for years, as they came out with the XX-75s and XX-78s, I'd usually buy which one had the color fletching I wanted...:D

Well that just won't happen if you hit what you aim at. The 78's are the best.

Gamegetters. If you hit what your shootin at there great and if your like me your changing out arrows every couple years anyway, so no need for paying high dollar for shafts. If you shoot competion than I'd change to 78's. If it flies right as your huntin equiptment than stick with it. No need to change just to look kewl at the range.

7078 alloy is considerably stronger than 7075 alloy and will resist denting and bending better than the 7075 alloy.
If I remember correctly XX75's are rated to 95,000 psi and XX78's are rated to 120,000 psi.

The xx78's are also heavier than the same shaft in xx75 though it is only like a tenth of a grain per inch.

The xx78 shaftsare also made to tighter tollerances than the XX75's.


AS for your delema, Easton does not list the 2016 in the 78's any more (which you probably already know and the reason for your post)so you are either going to have to switch to 75's or try another shaft in 78's. Personally I would opt for another shaft in 78. Such as a 2114. It is slightly lighterthan your 2016's but it is also slightly stiffer than the 2016 so you could easily make up the weight difference in a slightly heavier broadhead.
