Baking Soda for scent and sweat.

I was at Cabelas...again. :D I was just BSing with a guy that worked there just talking about hunting. We were talking about what we do for scent elimination practices, hunting strategies and so on and he was saying that he uses baking soda for scent elimtation and also to keep his feet a little dryer from sweat both in rubber boots and in later season. I have never heard of this little tactic. Anyone out there use it or try it.......do you like it? Does it work? I thought it was pretty interesting and something that would be cheap to try.

Sorry I forgot to add that he throws some baking soda in the bags he puts his clothes in, puts some on his hat, head net etc.... He seemed like he was pretty scent crazy. He even uses rubber gloves when he puts his clothes on before going hunting. Now that seems a bit over the top for me, but hey.....do what you got to do.

I wash my huntin clothes in vinegar(about a cup in a load) when really dirty. Baking soda:however, in the wash will eliminate odors pronto! Add no laundry det. just run through a cycle with half a box of soda!;)

Another alternative for washing, which I use is the Arm and Hammer detergent that is perfume and dye free.

I also use the Arm & Hammer Perfume & Dye free Laundry Detergent and find it works well. I prefer to use spray scent killer on my hunting cloths etc, but I also will use the soda if I am out of spray scent killer.

I also use Unscented Antipersperent deoderent on the bottoms of my feet to keep the foot persperation to a minimum[X(]

I think people should use what they' re confident with. I personally went to the grocery store this year and smelled every unscented thing they had . I picked out the detergent, soap, and deoderant I thought was the most unscented and used it this year. I had my most successful season(3 bucks & 2 does). Use what you want but Scent blocker or H.S. Specialities will not be getting my money. I' ll use that for going on a bear hunt or elk or something !!!!! :D

I use Baking Soda for everything. I shower in it, wash my clothes in it, brush my teeth with it, put it in my boots, use their deodorant, and spray down with it when I am at my stand. I think it works great and alot cheaper too.

I use it to wash my clothes and sprinkle some in the contanier I store my clothes in. It has worked fine for me. I do some some other commercial sprays, but the baking soda works well.
