Summit Cables?
When are these recommended to be changed out? Considering the stands have been well taken care of.
Thanks, LT |
RE: Summit Cables?
If the cables themselves show no sign of failing.....there's no real time limit. You can always re-do the shrink tube covering them.....If the cables are in good shape....Go for it.

RE: Summit Cables?
mobow, I understand what you are saying, but how do you "know" they are not bad? I always look mine over real well from time to time, but I always worry whether or not they have developed a stressed area over time. Just curious as to your thoughts and others.

RE: Summit Cables?
If you're in question.....Buy new ones. Peace of mind. I dunno, I guess if they're 5 years old new ones might not be a bad idea. I don't know how you would identify astressed spot....

RE: Summit Cables?
Yeah, you are right mobow. I have one that this will be season 4 and another that I bought used. The used one is the one I am concerned with mainly. I believe I will get new cables for it. Thanks for the ideas. I am not sure on the stress issue either.

RE: Summit Cables?
LT,
Have you had a problem with the rubber coating getting all cut up on the cables? That was a big problem for me, and while I corrected the problem by using a Dremel to smooth the sharp edge on the inside of the square tubing, I think I'll have to re-coat the cables to make them more quiet again. |
RE: Summit Cables?
I do have that problem Chief. Thanks for the tip on correcting it. I am also working on a solution to quiet the inner chamber that the cable slides into. Too noisy at times.
