New Land to Hunt....
Funny how things work out...
One of my hunting buddies was approached by a local farmer, seems he isn't going to lease his land to the same guys that he has been leasing to for the past 5 years or so...He approached my buddy at church and asked if he had any interest in hunting it with "his buddy" this year... Seems the guys that had it wouldn't kill does...After one of their hunts one of the hunters came out all excited because he saw 27 does...The farmer said "How many did you kill..." The guys says "None, I don't eat deer, I just hunt for horns..." When it came time to sign the lease for this year the farmer said that he wasn't going to lease it to them again... Guess what the lease is....FREE...:D See...It pays to go to Church guys....:) Sometime in the past he had overheard my buddy talking about going down east and helping me and my brothers keep the doe population under control...Seems he remembered that... |

With the rising prices for corn and rising deer populations, eventually a lot of farmers are gonna realize that they are losing much more money in crop damage than they are making off the lease. Something along those lines happened in Louisiana with geese. For years farmers would post their land or lease it to just a few people. The goose population ballooned to the point that suddenly they needed more people to come on their land and shoot as many geese as they could.
