Out of everyone who has a Trail Camera, How many of you have had one stolen? Reason I'm asking is theres a lot of people who are in the area I was going to put my cuddieback out in and I dont know if I can trust it or not.

Ive never had my camera stolen but ive only had mine for about 3 weeks now. Hopefully it stays that way!!! :D

Ryan, I voted no...I have never had a trail camera stolen, but i hunt exclusively on my private land.

I have a reconyx and its designed to be used with a python cable lock. I hunt on 800 private acres but I still use the lock just in case. Someone would pretty much have to destroy the lock or the camera to get it,plus its got a 4 digit security code so it wouldnt be much good if they did steal it.

See, my cuddeback has the lock code its 5 digits, and unless you know it, its useless, BUT most people dont know they take codes to use them now, so they would just steal it and then realize they cant do anything with it and keep it??? Reguardless, I had 4 treestands stolen out of this area and they all had multiple locks on them.

Well all you can do is lock it to the tree and hope is doesnt get stolen. I know its a crappy thing to have something stolen, I had two summit climbing stands stolen from me a few years ago. I know you want to be as careful as you can but its pointless to have a trail camera if your not gonna use it.

I recently just had a cudde stolen on privat property 10 yards away from the landowners yard!!

I HAVE HAD THEM STOLE ON PRIVATE BY TRESSPASSERS AT NIGHT AS WELL AS PUBLIC THE ONE ON PUBLIC WAS MY FAULT NOW WE HUNT 1.1 MILE FROM THE NEAREST ROAD AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT OTHERS COMING BACK THERE

I've been lucky with my trail cams over the 4-5 years I've used them. None stolen yet, and I hang it on public land. The trick is simply to put it in an obscure area where you know the deer will be, but other hunters won't be!;)
This is the bottom line. ANY TIME you leave somethingin the woods (I don't care what it is), you are running the risk of having it stolen. Locked orotherwise. It's the sad truth.[&o][:@][:'(][:'(][>:][>:][>:]

So far so good knock on wood...no problems. Mine are on private land as well. I would be a little concerned if I put them on public land obviously.

On private also. Never had one stolen and don't really think about it. That's what I don't understand is when that's someones 1st worry,why would they go and buy the most expensive cameras out there?

Only bears. We've lost 2. We know they were bears. Another 2 have been damaged and played with.

Never in the 6 years i have used them. I have gotten pictures of strangers exactly 1 time, but it was a daytime photo and he was looking the other way as he walked down a field edge....i never figured out who the trespasser was [:@]

I've had three stolen. But I hunt public lands and come to expect them to be stolen if found. I usually try to put them in obscure areas, and considering that I've owned about 10 cameras, over the past 5 years I consider myself fairly lucky. My brother in law has only bought one camera, had it out behind his house on his property, and only had it a couple months before it walked off, along with his tree stand. By the way I only use the el cheapos, for this very reason.

I have 4 cameras and have been using them since 2002 and luckily I have't had one stolen YET.

If there are people that use the area, don't put out a Cuddeback or any expensive camera for that matter. To bad, but people can't acquire some things by the old fashion way...working for it
