Bee Hive inside hollow of a tree
 

I put up a ladder stand against a dead tree on my friend's new farm last December. It was a productive spot.

I checked it this past weekend and noticed a bunch of bees coming and going from the hollow that is about chest high and only 2 foot away from where you would be standing/sitting.

I sprayed some wasp spray in it and scurried down hurriedly before being stung.

I went back last evening, and there is still lots of bees coming/going. No telling how deep the hive goes as I noticed another entry hole down lower on the trunk about 5 ft from the other one.

I know for some of you it would be easy to just move it to another tree. Unfortunately, in our country, trees big enough to support a stand of any kind are few and far between. I don't have another tree within 100 yards and this is where I need to be set up relative to trails and crops.

Any suggestions?

They weren't there when you set it up, I suppose?

If you can clog the other holes.....I'm betting there's a product (other than gasoline.....which works fine around my property on bees in the ground) that you could toss in the hollow part. If you don't get ALL their escape routes, though.....you won't accomplish what you're after.

don't kill honey bees. Look in the local paper for a bee keeper he will come and get them for free.

They won't bother you if you leave them alone ,and what do you think is pollinating his crops?

They could have been there, I don't know. It was mid to late December when I set the stand up and they would have been dormant/hibernated at the time.

Yea there is a pretty big shortage of honey bees now-a-days due to disease, etc. Call a local bee keeper like Bawannajim said and they will gladly take them.

Perhaps just leaving the nest alone..??

Honey bee's are generally non-aggressive.. and there place in the world is pretty valuable.

I suggest just moving elsewhere..

I agree to have someone take them.
