How many stands do you place?

Just wondering how many stand most of you place around your hunting grounds and if you find yourself using them all or just a select few.

I use my Summit climber so I don' t need to set up a lot of stands but I do pick out several trees in each hunting area and climb them to clear limbs and find the right height and shooting lanes. I like this method because I don' t think you can have too many stand sites but you don' t want to be hanging a ton of stands around plus this would be very costly. Just my 2 cents worth.....

I have 5 loc-ons and a climber and I use all of them! I wish I had five more though.

I am with Parker, I use a Summit Climber. I have 3 other stands put up other than the climber that I use. I have found the climber to be very successful for mobility. I do have a couple of spots that I know I will be wanting to hunt and that is where I place my ladder stands or hang on stands. I am thinking about a couple more hang on stands for the ease of getting in the woods without having to carry my climber all the time. It is nice to carry in a light load without carrying the climber some of the time.

My partner and I have close to 30 trees prepared on the
two areas we hunt. We prep all trees during this time of
year, which helps to keep our areas fresh for the fall[:-].
Though we have a dozen hang-ons, the majority of the
time we pack in our stand and hunt it that day, rarely
hunting the same tree more than 3-4 times during the
entire season. Not only does this keep the deer on their
toes...but it helps keep our stands from getting stolen[:@].

I feel the most important ingredient to a successful bow season, is having as many quality trees set up and ready to go long before the season begins. I now use a climber 90% of the time and like Two Beards, have close to 30 quality locations set up. Just added another great looking stand setup this weekend.

I also use a summit climber stand and like the other guys pick my trees out before the season opens.this year I got my buck in my 3rd tree not the one I thought I would have good luck in. It was a morning hunt with my son and I being a good dad gave him the (best tree) and sure enough I got the deer. We only had about 3hrs to hunt that day around 7:20 Am it came right up to the stand and looked at me then walked away I had to turn completly around in the tree but got a good 35 yrd shot. He ran right toward my son and went down about 15 yrd from him great day for a short hunt.;)

I have 4 hang on stands maybe 5 this year. And my brother inlaw and I built 7 permenant ladder stands. We hunt them all depending on time of year and deer sightings.

RE: How many stands do you place?

I have 10 to 12 permanent stand I use to hunt from. I try not to over use any one stand but at different times of the year, certain stands are hotter than others.
It is tempting to go to that stand time and time again, but you have to give it a break. I am very carefull going to and from my stands. If I bust a deer heading to a stand I may not attempt to hunt from that stand for a week and will try a different approach.
